Breaking Down Walls: A Journey to Parenthood Through Adoption

As a male, same-sex couple, growing our family naturally comes with an indestructible wall with a sign that says, “It ain’t happening.” Like many couples who face infertility issues, finding a way around that wall is no easy feat. While a natural path is off the table, we have been exploring other options, and we’ve had some incredible support along the way. And as this blog entry’s title would suggest, we’ve found our path with adoption.

We are humbled by the opportunity to open our hearts and lives to a child and hopefully their birth family. For us, adoption is not just about expanding our family; it's about creating a home filled with love, laughter, and endless curiosity.

From the very beginning, we have been overwhelmed by the encouragement we have received from our friends, family, and community. Their unwavering belief in our ability to provide a safe and loving home for a child has been a source of strength and inspiration for us.

We have learned so much already, not the least of which is an immense amount of empathy for the birth parents that will be entrusting us with the precious gift of their child. This decision is one of the most difficult and selfless acts a parent can make, and we approach this process with the utmost respect, sensitivity, and gratitude.

What is clear is that we aren’t done learning, not by a long-shot. More walls are ahead of us, and we know that we’ll face it as a couple, with the support of our friends, family, and community.

To any birth parent who may be reading this, we want you to know that we are committed to providing a warm, nurturing, and supportive environment for your child to thrive. We envision a life for your child filled with unconditional love, encouragement, and support throughout their lives.

Thank you for joining us on this incredible journey. We look forward to sharing more updates with you in the months to come.

With love and gratitude,

-Drew and Alex
